I might add for any of you wanting more info about the two...Elton John was bo-ring compared to Mr. Joel, by a long shot. He didn't interact with us, didn't really even talk to us...just sang the songs and exited the stage. Billy- the complete opposite. Funny, sarcastic, and entertaining. As well, I was wondering about their ages. Elton John is 62, Billy Joel is 61.
We had AWESOME seats...NOT! Even Billy Joel commented about our section being in "Topeka" and that we bought our tickets "at a discounted rate." Yepper, sure enough. I married a cheap you-know-what. :)
I recorded a bit of Candle in the Wind. We all have memories that correlate with a specific song, and vice versa. You hear a song, you think back to that time in your life.
I had just started my freshman year in college and was coming home for Labor Day. I walked upstairs with my dirty laundry, and said hello to my Dad who was sitting on the blue striped couch in the guest bedroom watching the television. He had his legs up on the couch, his toes tucked between the cushions, resting his head on his fist. He said that Princess Dianna had just been killed in an accident. It was August 31, 1997. Elton sang a different version (and only that one time) at her funeral of Candle in the Wind. I was glued to that tv screen, in mourning with everyone else. Completely unforgettable.
