Sanibel Island

Sanibel. I'd always heard it was gorgeous, but really?! Umm yeah- now I get it. The sand was so soft it almost felt like mud beneath your feet. The water was shallow and see-through. Just amazing. I sure hope the oil spill doesn't get close. And all those helpless ocean animals. Oh- it makes my heart hurt.

We loaded up the boat and headed out Saturday morning. Packed some sammy's, salty chips, and sunscreen.
Daddy and Bennett

Marin and Mak

Ms. Jana and Marin

Captain Jack, uh- I mean Mike.

We happened to see quite a few dolphins out that morning, maybe eight or so. That was totally cool. I bet one of them wasn't even ten feet away. BEEEEEE-autiful! No picture- sorry.

Bennett was rocked to sleep by the lull of the boat. He fell asleep just like this.

He drank a bottle and then had a great nap in his little sand crib. The ocean breeze and the crashing of the waves could put anyone into total relaxation mode. Do you blame him?!

Makenna thoroughly enjoyed herself at the beach. Her first experience with the ocean was a total hit. Yippee! She wasn't nervous, scared, timid, reserved- nada. She loved it. She loved looking for the sea shells, (which was hilarious to hear her say b/c it came out a verbal mess!)she loved playing in the sand with her shovel, and kept asking, "Will you come play with me in the water?!" You bet'cha, honey!

My new personal favorite, taken by the doc.

And the little man wasn't having it after he woke up. His experience with the beach was the complete opposite of his big sister's. He would go in the water if someone was holding him and walking in very slowly, but other than that- it was a no-go. I think this picture is really funny. Poor guy. :(

We were caught in what could have been a nasty storm on the way home. Ordered some thai and called it a night. Our first family vacay was absolutley amazing. Next year, anyone?!?! Count me in.
