You've just gotta laugh.

There's really not much else to say, but she's 3 1/2 and this is our life! A friend of mine just posted as her FB status, "feels like a hamster on a wheel." Ditto, Amber.

I know when I taught I would honestly think to myself, "What do stay at home mom's actually do?"...Now granted- I had only one child. :) I mean I knew they took care of their kids, but what did that consist of?! I did that on the weekends, and also in the evenings. What the heck was such a big deal?! I was able to get both of us ready in the morning, go to work, pick her up, fix some dinner, keep the house clean and the laundry done, plus work! Why were they always rolling their eyes and saying, "I can't get anything done!" in a long, drawn-out, exhausted voice!?

Of course, I'm now the one rolling my eyes. I can say that I do agree that two is WAYYYY more crazy than one (and actually it's 2 kids that are crawling/walking), but if we had three...Lord only knows that'd I'd be saying how peaceful two was!

And maybe it's just been the cabin fever these last few days (heat index of around 110 degrees), or maybe it's because Makenna needs way more attention than I can give her, or it might be that Bennett is everywhere and I'm following him around...I don't know, but something's gotta give. Today for example--and these are things that I'm literally throwing out there-- are a few for the books!
-Makenna wants to have a "parade" with the oven mits, pillows, blankets, baby dolls, movies, etc...using Q-tips as our marching batons.
-Clean up the parade.
-Makenna wants to "wash" her hair using her step stool and water from the sink. She wants to dip the comb in the water, dribble the water clear across the bathroom to the mirror. Duh- she wants to look pretty! Well...wouldn't you?!
-Clean up the water, put away the combs, wipe down the sink, ya-da, ya-da.
-Makenna wants to put her animals to sleep using either her bed, Bennett's crib, or the guest bedroom bed...which has clean sheets on it and is nicely made. :) Her bed- fine...although for some unknown reason this is her 3rd choice. Bennett's crib is hard to reach...she's a problem solver though- use the glider ottoman (which MOVES back and forth and is very unsafe to stand on!!!) to reach over into his crib and lay down, and then cover up, the sleeping babies. ORRR (her fave)...taking all the pillows off the guest bedroom bed, and tucking the babies inSIDE the sheets so they are "warm and cozy."
-Clean up all three bedrooms, re-make and put back together the guest bedroom bed..for the 400th time.
-Makenna wants to stack the videos as high as she can and make a "tower." Of course, honey. Math skills, logic and reasoning skills...I'm all for a teachable moment.
-Clean up the fallen tower.
-Makenna wants to put lotion on "just like a Mommy does." There are probably 20 things of lotion under my sink. Why not try them all?!
-Clean up the greasy lotion spot on the wall and put away the 20 bottles of lotion.
-Makenna wants to play dress up with Mommy's clothes and Mommy's "jewelries". She'll even use the wrinkle releaser spray on my clothes to "get out the wrinkles." She's no dumbie here, folks!
-Clean up/put away four sweaters, two shirts, and some belts...soak up the wrinkle releaser spray that's in the carpet, and TRY and find the misplaced "jewelries."
-Makenna wants to use her "scissors like a big girl and cut paper!" She's 3...she's supposed to be learning cutting skills. Perfect.
-Clean up teeny tiny paper scraps and take off/throw away ruined shirt with 6 holes in it.
-Makenna wants to use a pen and write/draw/squiggle on the paper. Who knows- maybe she'll be an artist. I encourage her.
-Clean up her fingers, wrist, and arm with warm water and soap.

And these are all amidst the other happenings of a normal day...taking care of Bennett, mind you...laundry, meals, daily "chores", etc. NOT that I'm complaining-

I AM NOT asking for an invitation to my pity party, nor am I inviting you! What I AM doing is journaling for the future. It'll be bittersweet when the kids are older, to look back and remember, smile, and cry. I've come to terms with loving my life the AWESOME way it is, and thanking God for the sense of humor. :)

And 2 quick quotes while my brain is working! :)
1. Ben had grilled some fish the other night and she asked him where he had bought it. "At the store," he said. "At the PET store, Daddy?!!?!?!" OMG- she was so sincere...almost heart-broken at the thought. Poor fishies.
2. A balloon was stuck in our bedroom, on the highest ceiling we have. She asked for me to get it down. I told her I wasn't tall enough. She said, "Let's have a really huge, tall giant get it down!" I said, "Where we gonna find one of those?!" Without hesitation, "...in the King's Forest!" Silly me- should have known.
