Lil Mak says "we sure mowed a LOT of corn at the farm, right Mom!?" Yes we did, honey- 34 acres to be exact! :) Well, Daddy mowed it...we played, watched, and rode along.
Ben wanted to help his Dad with the crop this fall, so we made a trip of it. The kids did great in the car. If you can believe, Bennett slept only 45 minutes of the almost 4.5 hours, but didn't have a care in the world. He was content, happy, and relaxed. Whew! That sure was nice. We listened to Lady Gaga and watched A Bug's Life. Good family times in a mini. (No, we didn't get a new car...we just like to borrow!)
Daddy really enjoyed his time behind the wheel of the combine. He looked over at me and said, "I could do this for like a week straight!" He wasn't kidding, folks- he loves combining...he talks about it every fall! It's hard for me to understand since I'm a city girl, but I suppose it's in his blood. Whatever floats your boat, honey. I'm down wid-it. Thanks for taking us for a ride and showing us the ropes! The kids LOVED it!!
Grandpa Boyd and us.
First thing Saturday am., rearin to go! Miss Mak was P-U-M-P-E-D to say the least!
There's Gpa holding Makenna.
Daddy with the kiddos.
Yes Ma'am...that's there a corn field (in my most southern drawl accent). This is the view from inside the combine.
Bennett was in amazement. He literally sat there and looked around...did not say a word. He's watching the corn pour into the bins.
Daddy showing his son how it's done.
Makenna couldn't get enough.
Sitting on the front of the combine.
Nothing Runs Like a Deere.
We were also lucky enough to catch up with Ben's cousin's wife and her daughter Grace. Yummy in their tummies!
We also celebrated B's 1st birthday with Angel food cake, a candle (which big sister took care of!), and a great gift! What else, but a push/ride John Deere! :)
He LOVES it!!! Thanks, Gma and Gpa!
What a GREAT weekend! A quote to sum up our time, "Mommy, I really love Grandma's farm. Can we stay here for a Loooooooooooonnnnngggg time?!" And this as we were coming home- She saw some corn that hadn't yet been "mowed." She said, "Awe Mommy, look at that corn. (in a sad tone) It's so sad!" I respond, "Why is it sad!?" Makenna "Because it hasn't been mowed yet." Too cute.
