Family Room Reno Project

It was a big one, I'd say.  And really, I say project...all that really entails is writing the check.  Although, I did have to paint the quarter-rounds, move the furniture out, undecorate the room, and clean up after!  Not to mention, keep the kids basically out of the house for two days.  That was probably the hardest part.

The room first looked like this B.C. (before children).
And then if you are a parent, or have been- you realize that all of your space you have gets taken and used up.  When Makenna was a toddler, we had EVERY.LITTLE. FLIPPING.TOY out for her to play with.  Drove me a little batty- can you tell?!  Then Bennett came along and once again, the Pack-n-Play came out, the swing, bouncy seat, exersaucer...all of it.  Again- batty!  Now that he's bigger, we've kept all the toys in the basement.  MUCH better decision!!!!  Whew- Mommy's all good.

Around Christmas time, we had it painted and I also redecorated.  It was helpful and felt good to have a new feel.

With all the traffic this room sees, five years of wear-n-tear on builder grade carpet, and a few accidents/stains- we had to do something.  Replacing the carpet was first on the list, but then we changed our minds and did this!  So exciting!!
We've been in this home almost 5.5 years.  Sure wish we would have done this forever ago.  We're in love with our home all over again.  Ben had been out of town and hadn't seen the transformation.  He walked in yesterday and just couldn't believe it!  I loved it that he loved it.  His exact quote (and you'll only understand this if you're familiar with KC) was, "It's like we live in Waldo!" It makes the room, cozy, cute, and quaint.
It flows really well with the kitchen- it's almost like the main floor is all one big, open room...just as I had hoped it'd be.
