Makenna had such a great time at her birthday party! Just take a quick glance at this picture and you'll see the excitement in her eyes. She felt like a real cowgirl.
We started off by playing "There's a snake in my boot!" Each child dropped the snake off the stairs, seeing if they could get the fake snake inside the boot.
Love this sweet stance of hers from behind.
Next up was a relay. They had to gallop using the horse and go as fast as they could. Neigh!
The kids couldn't wait much longer to see the horse, Shelby and the donkey, Sam! We had held them off for as long as we could. ;) I couldn't believe the weather in KC on Jan. 28. Usually the ground is covered with slushy, wet, snow and mud. This year however- it couldn't have been more perfect for a nice visit OUTSIDE with farm animals. Oh man...did we get lucky!? The kids didn't even need coats.
Uncle Kurt showing off his friends from the barn.
After the dog and pony show (horse and donkey-same diff), we took some group pictures. I had purchased these masks online, and thought the kids would get a kick out of them! I was right- they loved 'em!
What a GREAT group of friends! All girls and her fave boy, Mr. Cowboy Jax.
They loved looking at themselves in the mirror. What a FUN, simple activity! They were darling.
Cake? Yes, please! Makenna was so funny as we were getting ready to sing. It was like she was embarassed, but then quickly changed her mind!
Bennett wanted a cupcake so badly! He didn't care where he sat to eat it...even if it was in the middle of the hall, all by himself, on the floor! He pretty much stole the show at this point if I'm being honest. The big kids had their little 5 year old conversations in the other room. They're sooo mature. :) And ps- the homemade ice cream was a major hit!
He's as sweet as a cupcake. I could just eat him alive!
What's next? Presents- duh!!! Miss Mak was beyond stoked.
Her beau gave her an adorable swimsuit. It was like she was opening lingerie at her bachelorette party. Fast forward 20ish years from now, and that might just be the case!!! ;) Too cute. OOF-- here. we. come!
We had to stall a bit for the finale. I grabbed the book and flipped on my teacher tone. The kids really love listening to stories...especially if you use different voices and pretend you have a Texas twang! Good thing I was dressed for the occasion.
Drum roll please... How can any cowgirl have a party without the biggest cowgirl there ever was?!?! Jessie decided to come and tell Makenna personally 'Happy Birthday!' Now how cool is THAT!?!? The kids went ballistic!!!!! It was like they couldn't even believe it. SO fun. It was by far my favorite part!
They all stood up and gave her a huge group hug. I may have had a tear...
Each child took a picture with Jessie by themselves and then we mailed those as our thank you cards. I love the little girl in the front, Miss A. She's sort of over to the left with the white shirt and her hands crossed in front of her. Her face is priceless!
We love you, sweet girl...even if you are already 5!
And just so that I keep it real, I asked Mak what her favorite part of the day was, thinking she'd say all these awesome things I had worked so hard at. ;) She said, "The presents!" Yep!...that's how she goes.
