New Developments on the Homefront

New sayings from our 'lil Miss Thang. Dang- she's a fiesty one! :) Of course, I wouldn't have it any other way.

Makenna is quickly approaching her 3.25 birthday. :) They change Soo quickly.

She's 30 pounds and 40 inches tall. Just tall enough to ride the rides at the Magic Kingdom in FL!!! Yepper, you heard me right- looks like we'll be taking her for a day sometime this summer. We'll go visit our friends down in Ft. Meyers, take a day trip up to Orlando, and also get to see and touch a for-real beach! Oh Heaven on Earth. She is 100% into princes' and princesses, gowns, castles, fairy-tales, Disney movies, etc so I didn't want to miss my opportunity. This is certainly not to say that we won't again when she's older, but if we get to go now- then we get to go now! I'm over the moon...and she will be too!

Some quotes from our little comedian:
-This is a good one to start out with. "Mommy- I'm gonna kick your butt!" Woah- didn't see that one coming while she was sitting on the pot and said it for no reason. You'd be proud of me, though. I scolded her with a stern voice and told her that we didn't say that. Didn't...even...crack...a...smile!
- Another goodie. "Bennett! Shut up!" Woah- didn't see that one coming either! Wow. Where to go from here?!...
-A conversation between Mak and Daddy at the dinner table- it goes like this.
Daddy- What'd you do today at school, Makenna?
Makenna- Today at school we talked about bugs and sex.
(I about spit out my food!!!...AND you can imagine Daddy's face!!)
I murmered under my breath to Ben- INsects. :)
-I have a few stories of while I was blow drying my hair. Three days right in a row.
Day 1.
She comes upstairs and tells me to stop doing my hair. And that she has a special surprise for me. I ask her what it is and she hands me a few loose leaf papers, that I don't recognize, btw. I say, "Where'd you get these, honey?" She responds, "The man at the door gave them to me!" I about fell on the floor. Quite scary...lesson learned, and thank goodness nothing bad happened. Needless to say, we had a little role play activity when Daddy got home. You DON'T answer the door!
Day 2.
Once again, she tells me to turn "my hair off." I ask her why and she says she needs to go potty. I explain we have two other toilets she could use, but she defends using "Mommy's". I tell her that I don't need to stop blow drying my hair just for her to pee. She said in a very serious tone, "But Mom- then I won't be able to hear my poop!"
Day 3.
I just randomly had this thought that I should check on her. You always go with your gut! Sure enough...she was outside, on the porch, locked out...knocking on the door! Okay- so maybe the role play didn't work...Umm- Plan B?! Maybe I should start letting my hair air-dry.?
-I asked her to keep Bennett awake in the car, and that we were almost home. Thought maybe she could sing him a song. She started singing, "Rock a-bye baby, in the tree top..."
-At bedtime, when we're concluding the process, she says while holding our shoulders, "Let's be a family together!" Ahhh, a very sweet stalling tactic. She's also very into telling "secrets", aka stories. They always start like this. "Once upon a time, in a faraway land..." And they always end like this. "...and they lived happily ever after."
-We were driving along some random road with smaller, older homes on it. She says from the backseat, "Mom- these are really beautiful houses!" :)
-I know I've mentioned before how obsessed she is with riding the school bus. She now understands that she has to be five to ride the bus. She says it just about everytime we pass one. However, her new thing is "How do I be five?"
-Daddy has this farmer-boy bad habit of spitting when he's outside for no apparent reason. Guess who's picked up on it?! Yep- you got it! Except she won't only spit outside, but inside too. Hmmmmmm.
-She thinks Cali likes to sit in the "sunset", and not the "sunshine."
-Ben came home for lunch a few days ago. She was saying good-bye. She then shouts, "Thanks Dad. For coming over today!"
-She loves to write outside with her shock. (chalk)
-If you're leaving, she will most likely say, "I need to give you big hug and kiss!" And yes, you read that right- she leaves out the a.
-And most recently, yesterday in fact, I told her that we had to "run in and run out" of the store. What did she do?...well, start running of course. Duh- should have known that was going to happen. And then she saw the alcohol section as we were leaving. She said, "We need to buy Daddy some beer?!" How they learn so quickly...

And I know many of you that read the blog don't necessarily hear her voice when you're reading the things she's saying. I just kind-of figured out who I think she sounds like. If you've ever seen Mrs. Doubtfire with Robin Williams, there's a little girl-probably about 4, that has this little voice and a "s" lisp. Her name is Natalie, but they call her Nattie. If I ever need to be reminded of her little voice when I'm old and grey, I'll be pulling out the 'ole VHS. :)

A little fun in the sun time with Big Daddy!

And this is what she was busy doing while I typed this blog entry! What an ar-tist!
