It just so happened to be Grandma Irene's birthday the day they arrived, which Lil Mak was stoked about! We had to "shop for some presents," "stop by Target and get a card," and "bake a cake!" She always has quite the agenda! She really loves birthdays, which is pretty impressive that she understands the whole concept of giving. The only candles I had were a 3, a 5, and a 0. She wasn't 350, so we picked out the 5 and the 0. A perfect age, a perfect cake, and a perfect little picture.
Happy Birthday, Grandma Irene! We love you!
The next morning, I hung out here at the house with Bennett, while Gpa and Gma took Makenna to The Steamboat Arabia. It's an old steamboat (hence the name) that was traveling down the Missouri River in 1856 with general store items, some passengers as well, and a mule. It was snagged by an old fallen tree trunk and sunk within minutes. Everything was buried in/under the river. Eventually over time, the river became farm ground and no one even knew it was under there! They discovered it in the mid-1980's. How cool is that?! Basically everything was in perfect condition and ready to be put on display.
That afternoon, we enjoyed some din-din and a T-Bones game!
Bennett LOVED the swing...look at his happy face! His smile is oh-so contagious!
On Saturday morning, we explored the River City Market area. Ben and I really love it...and it frustrates me that we don't go often enough. Organic, home grown, yummy things...gorgeous flowers and bouquets, great people watching! It's a photographer's paradise- so much color and life. We paroozed around, purchased, and enjoyed.
I don't blame Bennett's skeptical look... :)
And Makenna rode the train. The longest train ride EVER, btw...talk about worth the money!
10 roses for 10 bucks...a steal! (I think these pics are really sweet.)
A super fun-filled weekend with the in-laws! We appreciate them coming down to see the kids.
