We have an incredible Theatre in the Park here in KC. It's in Shawnee Mission, and actually not too bad of a little drive. Cinderella was playing and the weather was absolutely perfect! No breeze, maybe 80-85, and just gorgeous!
It was quite fun for me to be out there with my daughter. We came out here when I was growing up and saw a few shows. And funny enough, I tried out for one of their productions, Sound of Music. I sang Put On a Happy Face..do you know it?! I was probably ten!? :)

Flash photography was prohibited during the show...bummer. The production itself was really cute. Makenna understood everything that was going on, even though there were slight changes to the 'ole standby Cinderella plot. She wanted to yell, "Hiiiii Cinderella" but I had to teach her proper "play etiquette." I taught her when to clap, how to listen, be quiet and respectful, and what an intermission was. I had tried to explain to her what it was that we were going to see. I had said it was like we would be watching the tv show Cinderella, but with real people. During intermission she said, "Mommy, when's the tv show coming back on!?" :) They're so innocent.
After the show was over though, we were able to stand in line and take pictures with the main characters. You'd think she had met the President!!!

The sweet, old Fairy Godmother. God Bless Her Soul....She really does make dreams come true!
I loved experiencing this with her. Sitting on the blankets and chairs, eating our snacks out of the cooler, outside on a beautiful summer's night. It was a true fairy tale come to life!
